Step one:
4 Cups all-purpose flour Whisk above together in a bowl mixing well. Step Two: 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened In another bowl, using an electric mixer, beat butter and 3 cups of sugar until light and fluffy (this can take about 8 to 10 minutes) and beat in molasses. Beat in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each egg. Gradually beat in the flour mixture ( I use a 1/4 measuring cup to do this) and combine well.

Step Three:
1/2 cup sugar (for coating cookies before baking) Put sugar in a small bowl. Form dough into walnut size balls and roll around in the sugar until coated. On a lightly greased baking sheet arrange balls about 3 inches apart and flatten slightly with your hand. Step Four: Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Bake for 18 minutes. This varies depending on your oven. Mine tends to run a little cooler than most. Final Step: Let cookies cool for about 10 minutes before removing to a cooling rack.
